Home T Crewneck, $30. So he can wear his state pride in a stylish way. I love this company-- they donate at least 10% of their profits to MS research, a cause very dear to my heart.
Read MoreI started my holiday shopping last week. Sometimes starting is the hardest part...trying to come up with the first gift idea. For the past several years, I have used the gift guides published by other bloggers to help with my gift buying. They have been so inspiring and often enlighten me to original gifts that I would not have thought of on my own. This year, I decided to create my own gift guides to hopefully help all of you. I have tried to keep in mind different budgets and different personalities when compiling the lists.
With Christmas less than six weeks away, the time to start shopping is now. That way, there will be more time for parties, cookies, and holiday movies once December rolls around!
OK, ladies guide first...
Happy shopping! xxo
Read MoreSix years old...Such a BIG kid now!
I recently skimmed (I will eventually read it in its entirety but I have yet to have a chance to do so) the book "Your Six Year Old: Loving and Defiant," which I think has perfectly described Jack since he hit the 5 1/2 year mark, coinciding with Rigby's arrival. Each day holds moments that completely drive us crazy. He has an inexplicable need to move his body all the time- I wonder if this makes learning while having to sit still at his school desk difficult for him. He chooses the most baffling things about which to be stubborn. And, he grows frustrated about things, like his artwork, every easily. But there are more moments each day where we see how creative his thoughts are, how curious of a mind he has, and how sweet his heart is.
Jack loves to be read to and to listen to us tell him stories of which he chooses the characters involved. Reading is both a very calming and pleasurable activity for him. He loves Roald Dahl books, Charlotte's Web, and Harry Potter (although we stopped reading at book two since the concepts are starting to get scarier and more abstract with the time travel). His vocabulary is quite extensive and he loves learning new words or ways to say things. Our mornings are marked by him illustrating books typically of a story he has just read, or by building a new Lego creation. He is always designing his own Lego to play with and he always says, "This looks like it came from a Lego kit you buy, right, Mama?" and often, it really does. He has a knack for design and creativity.
Read MoreLast Monday, Rigby turned six months old. A half year?! Already?! How can it be? (Do I say this every month?!)
Rigby is really starting to grow! At his 6 month wellness visit he tipped the scales at 15 pounds, 1 ounce (9th percentile) and measured 41.8 cm (25th percentile). I am still in denial of his growth (yet also so relieved by it since we had such a challenge initially with his weight) as I find myself trying to keep him in stage 1 diapers which he has clearly grown too big for and hesitating to move to the next size up in clothing. Each new step seems to move us further away from infancy and part of me mourns the end of each stage...
Read MoreWe celebrated Jack's birthday on Halloween this year with a trick-or-treat birthday party. It was a lot of fun to have a group of children to go house to house with and really fun for me to make Halloween themed food for dinner.
