Take me out to the ballgame
The Atlanta Braves are in town to play the Seattle Mariners and David had today off, so it seemed like the perfect time to take Jack to his first baseball game! I've been reading about the awesome new concessions located in The 'Pen that serve locally sourced food from national top chefs, so we were particularly excited about the food options. We arrived to the game about an hour and a half before the first pitch to let Jack roam around and to have plenty of time to grab dinner. We chose to eat at hamburg + frites, Ethan Stowell's concession, and had yummy cheeseburgers made with Northwest grass fed beef and topped with Tillamook cheddar cheese. The skin-on fries were served with tasty garlic dipping sauce.
We got to hang out right along the Braves bullpen, which is an amazing feature of this stadium, and saw Jair Jurrjens warming up and Derek Lowe hanging out. Jack stared in amazement at the catcher...I think he found it hard to believe that someone could catch a ball going that fast!
Every time we do something new in our new city, it makes us love it more...all the stadium workers were so nice to us, giving Jack baseball cards and a certificate marking his first game at Safeco field; Jack "caught" 2 baseballs!- one from Eddie Perez and then later signed by Jonny Venters!; the food was nothing to make a special trip back for, but it was quite delicious for stadium food; and, the parking and concessions were so convenient to our seats.
It was a super fun family outing and quite the memorable first game for our little baseball fan!
Sorry for the small and poor quality pictures...we had to use our cell phone because we forgot our good cameras!
