Seven months

Rigby turned 7 months old on Thanksgiving Day.  Rather than delay the monthly photo session until we travelled back home, we snapped a few (hundred) photos of him on the trip and I opted to use those for this post since they were just so good.

With each month, Rigby seems to just grow cuter and cuter and certainly more interactive.  He is such a happy baby and is quite the social butterfly, giving nearly everyone who looks in his direction and big drooly, gummy smile.  And, I swear that something magical happens when he smiles, his blue eyes light up and sparkle and his sweet attitude spreads to others like a really good infection.  And, the talking is quite something these days!  He tries very hard to mimic our sounds and will carry on a conversation with himself or with us for minutes at a time.  It is so precious to listen to, especially when I am listening in on the monitor while he is waking up and greeting the day.

Sleep is still going very well, yet seems to be a fluid topic.  This month we had to deal with the end of daylight savings time which just made him want to go to sleep even earlier (like 5pm!), but for the most part he has been going to sleep around 6:15 each evening and sleeping through the night most of the time.  I think I am just more easy going with Rigby since I am staying home rather than working, but the middle of the night wake ups do not seem to bother me much and they are certainly not something I stress over.  He does a lot of rolling in his crib- he is quite the mover- and now prefers sleeping on his side or belly despite us laying him down on his back.  At first, I worried about the safety of this, but he is strong and can easily lift his head and roll from front to back and back to front without any difficulty.  Despite all of his strength, he is still not sitting up on his own, yet he does now eat in the high chair so he is getting practice.

Speaking of eating, he seems to love meal time and I am having a fun time cooking things for him.  He still gives us this very puzzled and concerned look with the first bite of just about everything, but then he is totally game for it.  These days, he is eating a lot of salmon, leeks, egg yolk, peanut butter, avocado, plain yogurt, bananas, broccoli, zucchini, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash.

He loves to be outside and I think our stroller walks to take and then pick up Jack from school are some of his daily highlights.  He also loves bath time and I think when he is able to sit up in the bath tub, he is going to enjoy it even more.  When I do sit him up in the water, he loves to lean over and kick and splash!

We love you so much Rigby!  Happy 7 months!
