Bubbles and Doughnuts: A First Birthday Party
For Rigby's first birthday party, we decided to host his party in one of our most beloved Seattle spots, Volunteer Park. Our guest list included 12 adults and 10 children between the ages of 1 month and 7 years so I wanted a spot with built-in entertainment for everyone. Because of the uncertainty of our park party spot, we limited decorations to our family birthday banner (purchased for Jack's first birthday party), temporary doughnut tattoos from Love and Lion, and a few balloons. The plates and children's bubbles were color coordinated with the primary colors represented in the banner.
After tasting one of the delicious filled doughnuts from General Porpoise on Valentine's Day, I knew that I wanted that to be Rigby's birthday treat. We served four doughnut varieties: vanilla custard, roasted lemon curd, lime ginger jam, and orange cream. Rigby was delighted with his vanilla custard doughnut; I am not sure he left even a crumb behind! For beverages, we served milk boxes, water, and adult bubbles, Prosecco. We kept it simple, which actually felt perfect for the day.
I wish that we had taken a group picture of the party goers. We did manage to take a cute shot of Rigby with his youngest party guest. It was a special day made extra fun with some of our greatest Seattle friends. I'm pretty certain that our family will hold onto the memory of the party as one of our fondest last memories from this amazing place we got to call home for five years.
PS Rigby fell asleep on the ride home which was too precious not to share.
