remembering the brave little girl
today, we hosted our first annual kentucky derby party. of course, we made mint juleps with fresh spring time mint from the farmer's market, indulged in many great tasting finger foods, and celebrated the wonderful weather of a may afternoon. it was a lovely day shared by a fabulous group of friends. the highlight of the day came shortly after the completion of the horse race, when the ladies participated in a hat parade! hamilton, the only participant to sport a homemade hat, won our contest and got herself a big bottle of bourbon.
the tragedy of the little girl horse did not go unnoticed, making the memory of the day bittersweet.
here's to eight belles, great friends, beautiful weather, fun hats, tasty drinks, and yummy food.
